365 days gone like that

happy new year's eve, everyone... and merry belated christmas... it's been a great holiday with the little one and i'm looking forward to 2011 and all that it brings... we have decided to stay in this evening and have plans of ordering dinner thru takeout taxi and watching paranormal activity... we also may try putting deck in the crib (overnight) and i'm trying my best not to think about it since him leaving our bed makes me very sad... it's been such a joy lately watching him discover his hands, coo, and stick-out his tongue when we go to bed - i will miss his cute little face that's for sure, but i know it's time... he starts going to daycare in 11 days!!! :(

christmas was good - we attempted the candlelight church service and deck was good for the most part, but he had his fussy parts so we took turns walking around (i think he enjoyed the music though)... on christmas morning, we had a quiet few hours here opening presents and hanging out before heading to my mom's for dinner... eric got me a new camera - the nikon coolpix s8100 - which is the one in that commercial with ashton kutcher... i haven't used all the settings yet, but it's fantastic in low-light and the continuous shooting is pretty cool... it can also shoot video in HD so i'm pretty excited... deck got me a necklace with his name and birthdate and i plan on wearing it everyday... eric loved the print i had framed for him and we'll be hanging it in the LR as soon as i take down all the decorations... :)

on sunday - my brother hosted the family christmas dinner so we headed to PA and spent the afternoon with my mom, my sister's family, and my brother's daughter and husband... deck got a lot of clothes, books, and this dog named scout that can be programed to play music, games, and read to him... it started to snow in the evening so we headed home and then hosted my nieces here since we were going shopping the following day... that was a fiasco, that's all i have to say - there's was a lot of miscommunication between where to meet and when... i had to feed deck in the nordstrom's ladies room, and then couldn't find my mom & sister because my nieces had her cellphone... ugh! when i finally found them - my mom said she had lost her purse in macy's for a time but thankfully, someone had turned it in and nothing was missing (thank god!)... it was a long day, that's for sure, and we were happy to get home and resume our normal schedule... :)

this past week went by pretty quickly and i only have 1 more left before going back to work... i can't believe it's gone by this fast and here i thought i would have nothing to do and be bored out of my mind... granted, i've had the holidays to keep me busy but really - i didn't do anything over what i normally do (though i didn't bake any cookies)... i did go to the foot doctor yesterday and talked to him about surgery #2 on my foot - it's been okay but during the last month or so, it's started to hurt pretty bad and i know the other tumor needs to come out... when, i'm not sure and will have to talk to my boss about being out another week sometime in february... they took molds of my feet for some orthodics and he said this should help relieve pressure on the bottom of my foot (esp. since i have high arches) - they should come in around 3 weeks...

today, we have lunch plans with my friend and then we need to find some dress pants for eric since he has an interview on monday... and we both decided that we need to hunker down and lose weight in 2011, so i'll probably do weight watchers again... i thought about nutrisystem since they upgraded their food, but it's not recommended for women that are breastfeeding... :(

TGIF

it's been a long week, esp. since it was my first one back, but all in all - it was productive and i'm happy to have the weekend off... i had a glorious birthday dinner w/eric last night - we shared wonderful spinach & artichoke dip, then i chose the jumbo shrimp, tangy cole slaw, 1/2 baked potato... and for dessert - it was warm apple walnut cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream... we were home by 7:30 and eric surprised me a new tv for the bedroom... i know some people say that it's not good to watch tv in bed, but i find it relaxing when i'm not quite tired yet, or if eric is watching something in the living room - then i can do my own thing... we tried it out and it works great, so i can't wait to watch my saturday morning food network shows in style! =)

our weekend plans are pretty light right now - i am looking forward to my hair appointment tomorrow... and after that, eric and i will be going to a local home show and will check out the latest and greatest in home improvements... there's a lot that we'd like to do to the house, but we need to prioritize and figure out what will require a contractor and what we can do ourselves... roof and siding for sure, but i'd also like to redo our bathrooms and update the kitchen (darker cabinets, new floor, new counter-tops, and paint)... i mean, if we are indeed moving to pittsburgh in the next 2-5 years - the house needs work in order to make it sellable... ah, the joys of home-ownership...

my foot is feeling better - i've been wearing my ugg lookalikes to work and they seem to be the best option for now (wide and comfy)... i've also really enjoyed taking a shower again, but do miss my nightly bath so perhaps that will be on tonight's agenda...

one-step closer

it's been another busy day - running around, more doctor appointments, and getting my stitches removed... the doctor said that i was healing very well, that i should still baby it thru the weekend, and then be good to go by monday... i can even wear a normal shoe, though i'm pondering which one will work best right now... and the best news? i can take a shower! since the surgery, i've had to maneuver myself into the bathtub w/out getting my foot wet and it hasn't been easy... i go back in 2-weeks and then should be able to start exercising again! i'm so happy! =)

eric and i grabbed lunch at panera - their cream of tomato soup is so damn tasty!

in other news, tomorrow is my birthday and i will be ONE year closer to turning 40... seems strange to even type that, but it's reality and i'm glad to say that i feel nothing like 39 (thank-god)... i'm happy to say that i don't fret over things like wrinkles or grey hair - i feel it's part of getting older so why pretend to look like someone you're not? anyhoo, i don't really have big plans - tomorrow will be a busy day at work and then hopefully i won't have to stay too late since eric is taking me to dinner... sounds perfect to me! =)

in my jammies before 8:00

i've had my bath, beef stew is in the crock-pot, and i'm not enjoying the vikings/saints football game (go favre)... how exciting would it be to see manning vs. favre in the superbowl? two words - AWE SOME... :-)

it's been a productive weekend so far - went to spin class yesterday and barely made the list (sometimes if you're not there by 8am, there are no spots left)... it was a great class and i had no problems keeping up - was a bit worried since it had been a few months, but no problem! the instructor had great music and managed to burn 600+ calories - go me! in the afternoon - i got my haircut, exchanged a wedding present at crate & barrel, visited w/my best friend, and did a few small projects around the house before getting ready for "game night"... eric's friend had invited us over to their house to play games - never heard of apples to apples, but it was really fun! we also played risk and that took FOREVER, was that game always so long? i also ate WAY too many cheese & crackers and wine (yellow tail pinot noir is fabulous!)... just when i thought the evening was over at 11:30, we met some other friends at a local pub and hung-out til after 2:00am... haven't done that in a long time... :-)

this morning, i was up early because i wanted to get to sears for new tires and an oil change... eric came along and requested that we stop at mcdonald's for breakfast - i had an egg mcmuffin and hash brown, but tracked both on my phone... $500 later, we came home and started the laundry and went thru my paper lanterns and silk hydrangeas to sell on craigslist... i also went thru all our wedding photos (finally) and posted a ton on facebook - now, i just have to research wedding albums and get that project crossed-off my list... :-)

this upcoming week will be busy, both at work and personally - i have therapy on monday, OB appt. on tuesday, and both therapy and a dermatologist appt on wednesday.... i still wonder why i'm still going, but will wait to see what my doctor says next week... i have been ignoring pain in my left foot - it doesn't feel like tumor but more like it my toes (hammer) which is not very good... how crazy would it be if i had three surgeries in one year? :-(

i'm SO glad it's friday... besides being my first week back, this cold is taking F O R E V E R to go away and it's not made me a happy camper... hopefully by the time monday rolls around though, i'll be feeling more like myself so i'm going to try and be optimistic... :)

speaking of optimistic - i REALLY wish my right foot would stop hurting! the cortisone shot that i got right before the wedding didn't help, so i've made another appt. and will ask to have an MRI so we can figure out what's wrong... it's been very painful and the shoes that used to be okay to wear, aren't so much these days and that's not good... hard to believe that it's been almost 10 years since i've had a normal, pain-free foot... :(

i am determined to start decorating for christmas this weekend - eric isn't so into the whole thing and could care less about getting a tree... last night he said, "don't you have a skinny, fake one we can use?" and i replied, "yea, but i want a real one, don't you?" his family, from what i've seen, isn't very big on holidays or decorating, but my mom was and still is... i just think it's nice to make the house look pretty and smell good too, plus - it's only for a month so why not?! so, either tomorrow or sunday i'll be dragging him out of the house so we can buy a tree... just not sure where it's going to go just yet... ;)

i started to do some shopping online, but for the life of me - can't figure out what i want this year... i told eric that i already got what i wanted this year (a ring AND a wedding) so i'm not sure what to ask for... for those of you that have been dating a while and/or are married - any suggestions? i have an ipod and an iphone... hmm...
