i think your scale is broken

it was a busy weekend, that's for sure... i had quite the success on saturday with mom - we hit 3, big yard sales and though it may be early, i picked-up some great baby clothes... this one woman had THE nicest things (gap, ralph lauren, etc.) for dirt cheap, so my mom and i went thru the rack and picked-out a few things... eric had thought i spent a fortune, but when i said i only paid $4 - he was flabbergasted... i have no issues with buying clothes that i know were probably only worn once or twice - why pay full price for something the baby will either throw-up on or poop in... ;)

after the yard sales - we hit some normal stores and i grabbed some more stuff for my trip... i found the cutest pair of lands end shoes, a reversible jacket, some socks, a few shirts, and a bigger belt since all of mine (ahem) are now too small... i treated mom to dinner for mother's day and bought her a new purse (might as well have her pick-out what she likes, right)... i finally pulled-up to my house around 9:00 pm and was exhausted...

yesterday, we had a new roof installed... there were some times that were questionable (like running out of shingles), but they finished around 7:00 and it looks great... the weather was a bit windy but otherwise gorgeous - seemed like fall really... i did some more shopping at target last night and should really make a point in going every sunday at 9:00 because the store was empty!

this morning i had 2 doctor's appointments - my endocrinologist upped my lovenox dosage so now i'm doing 2 shots a day (AM and PM)... he said because i've had a clot before, that i'm at a higher risk of getting another while pregnant so that's why i'm going up to 60mg... he said my levels are perfect otherwise, so that's good news...

as for my OB - i was utterly shocked when the nurse said i hadn't gained anything this month... i really feel like i have, but i guess it's just my body shifting around? i also have to start getting a sonogram of my cervix every 2 weeks since i had a LEEP procedure years ago and my cervix may become thinner much sooner... with all these appointments, i'm glad i'm organized and can keep track of everything because it's quite overwhelming... guess i should get used to it, huh...

the last pic is of my salad today - the lettuce is straight from our garden and contains: baby romaine, arugula, and green leaf... i also mixed in some cranberries, walnuts, gorgonzola, tomatos, and grilled chicken... yum-o... =)

hope you're having a great monday...

thank-you

for all the well-wishes, kind thoughts, and comments... even though i have boughts were i get incredibly sad (like having to read my dad's obit), i have enjoyed going thru old photos, and remembering all the fun things we used to do when i was little... being that i was like an only-child (my brother is 14-years older and sister is 12-years older), he would take me everywhere with him... sometimes i'd ride in the back of his truck with my dog, sandy, and not have a care in the world... he'd take me to mcdonald's for breakfast on the weekends (occasionally) and then get yelled-at from my mom... he'd also take me to the local restaurant after school and we'd get milkshakes and grilled cheese samiches - no wonder i have a weight problem! i'm thankful to have memories like this and so many more... =)

work has picked-up because of our annual meeting (less than a month away) so that has helped... we worked in the garden today and planted 3 kinds of lettuce, spinach, green beans, snap peas, and a batch of volunteer potatoes... next week, we'll plant the tomatoes, peppers, and herbs... i cannot WAIT to have our first salad with lettuce from the garden - there's nothing like it... =)

tomorrow i'll be hanging out w/my mom and then having lunch with my brother... she made her annual easter candy (coconut and peanut butter) and he didn't get his share last week, so we're making a special trip... eric is going to atlanta for a conference tomorrow as well, so i'll have a few days to myself - always nice since that gives me ownership of the remote... ;)

we've also been talking about our honeymoon and need to get moving... eric's been looking online and will hopefully be able to use his amex points, esp. since he charged 75% of our wedding (which we paid-off in a month)... so far, we're looking at flying into paris on may 14th and then coming back on 29th and then we'll have memorial day weekend to recoup... i cannot wait! =)

hope you're having a great weekend and enjoying the sun...

lazy sunday

it's been a great sunday, considering it's our first one w/out having to go anywhere, in over two weeks... the yard needed mowing, the laundry needed to be done, groceries had to be bought, and the house needed to be cleaned - sounds fun, eh? we managed to get the majority of things done by 1:00 so the rest of the afternoon was pretty lazy - i read some of my woman's health and watched some triple-D on the food network... for dinner - we'll be grilling shrimp (and chicken for later this week) and having a complete salad from our garden, as well as some green beans that are coming-in like gang busters... we'll have plenty to eat in the next few weeks, as well as freeze... :)

our quick trip to pittsburgh was nice - we stopped to see a friend of eric's from college on friday night, who recently bought a bowling alley from his parents... he's in the process of fixing it up and though there's much to do, i can see a lot of potential (remember that show 'ed')... from there, we headed to eric's brother's house and then stayed there for the night, before heading to the anniversary party on saturday... his parents were under the impression that this party was for eric's sister so when we yelled "surprise" for them instead, they were quite shocked! all of the kids and grandkids were there, so it was a nice afternoon... we hit the road after it was over and made it home in about 4 hours (i even got to drive the mini for a good portion)... :)

here's a good deal > amazon.com has a 1-year subscription to real simple for only $5!

anyway, here are some pics from today's harvest... enjoy the rest of your sunday! :)

becoming a regular at home depot

we started on the garden today and already planted peas, onions, and spinach... next up will be: carrots, lettuce, peppers, tomatoes, squash, and herbs - i can't wait! it's much larger this year too so things won't be ontop of each other - i am very excited to say the least, esp. since i am living here now and can go 'play outside' whenever i feel like it... flowers were also purchased so i'll try and get the flower boxes done this week... i made turkey burgers for dinner (that were most excellent) along with some grilled asparagus and cous-cous - can't complain about that! :)

yesterday was a bit hectic since we started on the bedroom, and i had both a hair appt. in the morning and then plans with my mom last night... i hate only having a few hours to start a project, but there wasn't much i could do about it... we managed to get the trim done but it took forever to tape everything and there were many spots that needed spackling (so it had to dry)... i hope to get the walls done and my furniture in by wednesday (that's my goal anyway) and after that - we will move onto the pantry which will need painted and more shelves added (because i'd like more room!)... :)

i thought i'd share some flower pics i took today while we were outside and be warned - there's one of a spider eric found in the dirt - it was so cool! and no, i wasn't THAT close to him but rather have my macro-lens to thank... :)

is it friday yet?

this month has been SO busy for me and i cannot tell you how much i am looking forward to NOT going anywhere this weekend... between going to the beach, visiting my dad, and 3 weddings - my weekends have been shot and i can't believe august is only 4 days away... where is this summer going? :o(

i'll try and keep my weekend recap short and sweet, plus i have some pics to share with you (and i think i finally fixed the whole text-wrap thing)... on friday night, eric came over and we went to see the indiana jones movie - it was okay, nothing spectular, and definitely not as good as the other ones... i AM happy that we got to see it on the big screen though... on saturday, i headed to my dad's and spent a few hours with him - he wasn't as awake/active as last time so i helped him with lunch, gave him a shave, trimmed his fingernails, and took him outside for a while... on saturday night, eric and i decided to take the bike out for a late-night ride and celebrated his bday at this country biker-bar that has these amazing blue cheese burgers... dessert was ice cream at jimmy cone which has been open, in my hometown, since i can remember - i had vanilla yogurt with oreos... mmm mmm... :o)

on sunday, we hung-out around the house for a while but then had to get ready for wedding #3 - eric found out that the whole 'black-tie' thing was a misprint on the invitations but it was too late for me to go home and get another dress... the ceremony was nice but very long (1.5 hours) and the reception was really nice too since it was held at a botanical gardens... we sat with most of eric's coworkers so at least i knew most of them and had a good time... it was also a late night for me since we had to go back to eric's and then i had to drive home from there - today has been brutal since i'm pretty tired and i'm counting the hours until i can go home... ;o)

our garden is starting to bust at the seams with tomatoes - i'm hoping to have enough by this weekend so i can learn how to can salsa and spaghetti sauce (thanks mom!)... i made a great salad for the week too with cherry tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden - it was quite yummy on a whole wheat pita (see below)...
