2-days in a row

we had more good news today... deck gained 10 oz. since last friday and is now above 8 lb. which is above and beyond what he should've gained, according to the doctor... nice job, baby boy! he's now just a few oz. short of where he should be on the weight scale and she is very confident that he'll keep moving in the right direction... she still wants me to pump for 10-minutes after each feeding and we're to cut back on the formula, unless he needs it (i.e. doesn't nurse well or the pacifier doesn't soothe him)... this news really makes me feel better and yes, i know we still have a long way to go but at least he's over the hump and making progress... thanks for all the words of encouragement... :)

the weather has been pretty rainy and cold today, so after we got back from the doctor - i rested for about an hour (don't think i ever fell asleep) and then we caught-up on some shows we had on the DVR... we are fans of boardwalk empire and hoarders, and now walking dead which is on AMC - great show, if you're into zombies... ;)

my thrift store shopping trip yesterday resulted in a few things, though trying on pants was rather discouraging... since i refused to try on size 18s, i somehow managed to find 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of pants (16s) as well as some shirts and a few sleepers for deck... i also found a harley-davidson tshirt but it's way too big right now and will be perfect for next summer (hopefully)... :)

well, i guess i need to start thinking about dinner and getting deck awake for his next feeding... it's pitch black outside and feels much later than 6:20 - certainly not liking this daylight savings time...

happy tuesday...

half over

work has been extremely busy for me this week which is good, but there's no end in sight until this damn annual meeting is over next month (may 7)... the final program will go to the printer on monday, and i haven't even started on the hotel/exhibit signage... and then there will be a dozen or so last-minute projects - all of which will need to be done ASAP... gotta love it... the only light at the end of the tunnel right now, is looking forward to our honeymoon... =)

eric FINALLY bought our tickets for paris on sunday - that's as far as we've gotten but at least i know that i'll be driving around france may 14–29... we'll spend a day or so in the city and then it will be off to the countryside where i hope we just take our time, soak-up the scenery, and get some much needed R&R... we'll spend some time w/his host family (from college) but that's all i know right now... if anyone has some suggestions on places to stay in southern france - please let me know... i'm not looking for 4-star hotels - B&Bs would be nice... =)

work, honeymoon... that's about all that's been going on for me... besides going thru photos of my dad and starting to assemble things for the memorial service (may 2)... my sister was telling me about how much some newspapers charge to list an obituary - one is costing more than my dad's cremation - how insane is that!?!?! i'm in the wrong business, that's for sure... i spent some time w/my mom and brother on sunday - he found more pictures so we reminisced for a while and made fun of my mom's hair at the time... not that mine was any better, but you know what i mean... fun times... =)

eric's been away at a conference, but will be home tonight... i haven't watched any of our shows this week (breaking bad, LOST, and justified) so we'll have much to keep us busy... =)

well, that's it for me... hope you're having a good week...

happy hump day...

TGIT

today is my friday since the office is closed tomorrow (good friday)... my to-do list is growing, starting with a chiropractor appt. at 9:30 and then ending with shopping at IKEA with mom... as for everything in between - i have some errands that need taken care of (returns, dry cleaning, etc.) and would like to get the flowers planted in the front of the house... and even better - the weather is supposed to be gorgeous and in the low 80s... bring it on! =)

speaking of gorgeous - have any of you caught the new show justified on FX? my goodness - that timothy olyphant is quite the cutie-patootie... eric and i are really enjoying the show so far - it's a nice change from the usual cop/drama stuff that's on tv these days (and nothing like law & order)... check it out if you haven't already... =)

work has been busy, but i've made it to the gym 2x this week and plan on going for walk outside today... my walk/jog workout on monday went well and my foot seemed okay - i definitely had to go slow but was happy to complete 40-minutes... if can get my cardio back up to 3-4/week, i would be one, happy camper plus getting back to spinning on saturday is a great addition... =)

so what are your plans for easter weekend? eric and i plan on taking the harley out on saturday, we may venture to solomon's island, which is in southern maryland and on the water... the timing of all this, however, depends on when the directTV guy is done installing our new HD receivers and dish... i'm not sure about your area, but starting today - unless you have an HD receiver, you will no longer receive various channels... it sucks, but a fact of life so i'm hoping we don't lose any channels after the switch and gain some new ones! =)

as for easter - we plan on going to church w/my mom and then she's making dinner for us and prossilby my brother and his g/f... i offered to make a coconut, lime cheesecake (from a recipe she gave me) and am looking foward to just enjoying the day...

well, i hope you all have a wonderful weekend and holiday... enjoy the sun!

drugs are good

the antibiotics are working, i think anyway - am feeling MUCH better and more like myself (doctor gave me levaquin)... so much so, that i had the energy to write our wedding thank-you's last night (while listening to christmas music, via pandora, on my iphone)... and speaking of christmas - those cards will get done this weekend, as well as some shopping and football-watching since last sunday i was busy with mom... it's always good to have at least ONE day to do nothing... :)

so how incredible was the 'biggest loser' on tuesday? i knew danny was going to win and thought he looked amazing (and about 20-years younger)... and am i the only one that thought rebecca looked a tad creepy with the shorter, blonde hair? that's what eric said anyway, but she looked incredible and totally deserved the $100k... wonder how next season will be, it's back to the couple-thing again...

eric and i have been catching-up with some movies lately - we watched 'district 9' and 'terminator salvation'... i have to say 'district 9' was pretty cool, though nothing like i was expecting, and i really liked the news-focused storyline...

food/exercise have been okay (food) and nonexistent (exercise) since i've been sick... watching the total-gym demo, on qvc, made me wish i had a house that was big enough to have my own gym... then i would never have an excuse to skip a workout... :)

happy thursday...

would you want to be 12 again?

how many of you remember making these barrettes in elementary school? i must've had 20 pairs, plus made them for my friends - never used flowers though, always had beads at the end... funny how both good AND bad things get recycled thru the years... ;)

i started using my WW app yesterday, it's pretty easy-to-use though i had to go online to log-in my weight (not pretty!)... i also skipped the gym yesterday because my allergies were horrible and i felt like crap, but today is a new day! eric was asking me about bally's and how long their guest-pass is good for - i would SO love for him to join so we could go together... and being it's less than 5 mins away from our house, going in the morning would be great... :)

my shoulder is still hurting... bah!

just another wedding has been updated - we went for tuxes last night, how exciting! :)

we watched a tad of 'glee' last night - thought it was really funny... eric then goes, "what channel is this on? fox? i can't watch anything on fox"... not sure what that meant...

i'm wearing a new pair of black boots today - always hate the beginning since they're not broken-in yet... ouch!

that's all for now - time to get caught-up with what you guys have been up too... :)

happy thursday...

get out of my bag!

i have the worst luck with bags! i was so excited to get my new vera bag but when i opened the box sunday night, it was the wrong size! i'm such an idiot... but thankfully, i was able to exchange it last night, at a store near my house, and changed my mind on the pattern... i now have the one i initially liked, so all is well in bag-land again... it's nice to have something that's roomier and can fit all my daily to/from work stuff (i.e. shoes, lunch, purse, personal ogranizer, etc.)... norman seemed to enjoy the bag too... :-)

my shoulder is still bugging me so i may call the doctor and see if i can get an appointment for next week - i have off on monday (columbus day) and already have a chiropractor appt.... might as well make it a 'health' day... i should probably run some other errands and take advantage of the free day - this wedding stuff is really time-consuming! ;-)

my weekend out with my sister was good, minus the argument that my mom and i got into at the florist... not even worth discussing and it was silly - perhaps i'm just as stubborn as she is, but unwilling to admit it... ha... the weather was great and leaves have already started to turn (because of the high elevation) so it was very pretty... ate like crap too, nothing new there... :-(

i downloaded the WW app on my iphone - haven't really used it yet, but maybe soon...

haven't been keeping up with the new shows but am DVRing 'how i met your mother' and 'the bing bang theory' because they are very funny shows... always good for a good laugh...

eric's been gone at a conference so we haven't seen each other since friday - it's always weird to be in the house without him so i'm happy he'll be back later today... :-)

happy tuesday...

fall = pumpkin spice latte

sorry.

as you can imagine, things in jodi-land are not like they used to be and why i decided to plan a wedding in less than 3 months is beyond me... it's not even that it's stressful, it's just busy between appointments, meetings and finally getting the invitations out (on monday)... so far, people love them so that makes me happy and considering i spent 10+ hours printing, cutting, and stuffing on sunday - they better! ha! anyway, i'll keep the wedding-talk here to a minimum but check out my other blog if you want to hear more... ;)

in other news - eric was asked to speak and/or attend a security conference in ireland THIS NOVEMBER... he said they'll be paying for the whole thing and if i wanted to go along, the only thing needed would be airfare... i've never been to ireland and am really torn because one part of me would love to go, but is that being totally stupid 3-weeks before the wedding? i don't know all the details (how long, etc.) so that's the newest thing on my mind these days... guess i could look at it as a pre-honeymoon... ;)

i've been going to the gym again pretty regularly, so that's good news... i really should start pilates/yoga again because it would help me stay less-stressed, but haven't researched any local classes... i know i'd be more apt to go if i was paying for something, over doing a dvd in my basement but then again - i really need to be saving money right now so...

we've started to watch a few shows this season - got eric into biggest loser last week but this week, not so much... curb your enthusiasm was pretty funny though i've never watched it before and am anxious to see what they do with the whole seinfeld thing... i'm also interested in flash forward, which starts tonight - anything that is similar to lost peaks my interest... are there any shows that you are watching and/or excited about this season?

guess that's all for now - hope everyone is doing well... :)

happy thursday...

slacker

ever have those weeks when your meals are just out-of-whack? i didn't get to plan/prep like usual on sunday so it's been an interesting week food-wise... i will have to buy lunch again today, but am hoping that cosi has their roasted tomato soup because it was very tasty when i had it earlier this week... i have nothing against buying lunch but it's pretty expensive to eat out everyday, and as for healthy options - you really have to do your homework... we have a whole garden full of lettuce (still) so i should be taking advantage of that as much as possible - nothing like a free salad everyday! :)

my workouts have been going well (today i have two) and i actually look forward to them since they are so challenging... and it's been great not having to do the same thing each time because we all know how that goes - boredom comes easily when you do the same thing day-in and day-out... yesterday's treadmill workout was 45-mins of hills (and hard ones at that!)... :)

does anyone watch 'true blood' on HBO? eric got into it last season so we're watching it again this time around - just makes me laugh since it's so 'soap-opera' like... i had read online that there was this big sex scene at the end of the show, so what happens? eric's tivo stopped recording just before the good part - hahhahaha, made me laugh! he didn't think it was very funny... ;)

happy thursday...

at least LOST was good

first of all, let me just say that the LOST finale was awesome! i'm not going ruin it for anyone but i really enjoyed it and think it really opens-up the final season for anything (we may even watch it again)... i still think it's going to end, where it began, with them on the plane but that's just me... what did/do you think?

second of all, i'm very disappointed that the capitals lost last night - by the 5th penquin's goal, i told eric that i couldn't watch it anymore... yes, he's from pittsburgh but is more of a football fan than hockey - he still watched the series with me anyway, so thanks darlin... better luck next year, guys! :(

i had blood work done this morning, in prep for my annual check-up next week... it was relatively painless and i'm thankful to be one of the few that doesn't get weak at the site of blood or needles... :-o

my workouts are finally getting back to normal and since the weather's been so nice - i'm trying to get back outside as much as possible... i jogged around the mall yesterday (slowly) and will try to do that at least 2x week (the other day i can do the treadmill or eliptical)... eating has also been good and i'm tracking away on eTools - made this white bean and tuna salad for lunches this week, and with a whole wheat pita - you can't beat it... :)

happy thursday....

15-minutes of fame

something exciting happened last night - eric was on the 11:00 o'clock news to talk about the new computer virus, conficker... when i went to meet him last night - his boss met me at the door and said, "he's being interviewed by channel 9 right now"... so i went to get my usual cup of coffee (since they have one of those cool machines that make individual cups and you can chose the blend) and waited for the interview to be done... he wasn't sure if he'd actually BE on tv so when it was the lead story - low and behold, there he was - pretty cool! my boyfriend is locally-famous! he said that he thought he looked fat - i tend to disagree since we all know tv makes you look bigger, but i did say the grey in his gote showed up nicely... anyway, if you'd like to see it - the video can be found on the right-hand side of the page here... :)

i haven't gone to the gym since friday and with being so busy with the move, then injuring my foot - exercise has been null and void as of late... the scale did show a tiny loss though (.2 pounds) so i'll take it and hopefully i can get things back to normal soon... i AM looking forward to taking more walks/jogs now that i have some great neighborhoods around me - i could do a different route every night if i wanted too... :)

sorry for the short post, but work is calling...

happy hump day...

why did i just eat that?

ugh, i'm just not working WW like i should be (gained 1.6 this week), and i have no real excuse besides (a) i've been lazy, (b) i tend to stop tracking on the weekends, and (c) other things have been made a priority... like packing & moving, but even then i can't blame that 100% because it hasn't been taking up all my time - just bits and pieces... i hate complaining and giving excuses, but that's part of the weightloss game - facing your issues, accepting them, and then moving on... always seems easier to type, then to actually do - funny how that works... anyway, i'm going to make a conscious effort to track all 7 days this week and just take things one day at a time... :)

update: i got back from a great weight-workout and found one of those big chocolate chip cookies on my desk... apparently, a coworker didn't want to feel fat on her own, so she bought one for each of us... and i ate it... the whole damn thing... WTF! :(

anyway, i have a chiro appt. after work and then it's home to maybe see if there's anything else i can pack... the weather is supposed to be really nice this weekend so we'll make as many trips as we can - i keep telling eric that i have NO idea where all my stuff is going to go... and that we need a bigger house... he thinks i'm joking - a woman needs space! ;)

i can't wait for LOST tonight! whoo hooo! :)

happy hump day....

but i love you both

i'm not one to watch reality shows - only watched the first season of survivor and said, "enough is enough"... but for some reason, i got sucked-into watching the tail-end of the bachelor finale last night - why, i don't know considering i hadn't watched it all year... then i had to watch the show afterwards to see if they were still together - holy cow, what a twist that was! i have to say i'm a bit torn - sure, he's the jerk for having feelings for one girl and asking another to marry him BUT i also think it was noble of him to say he made a mistake and that he still had feelings for the other one... i mean, yea, it's just a show and who knows how much is real/fake... and it does suck for melissa but would YOU want to be with someone that wished he had chosen someone else? and how excited was molly - you could just tell that she knew he'd come back to her in the end... stupid show and yes, i'll probably watch tonight's episode too but only after i pack some boxes... :)

my back has been feeling much better and i'm looking forward to tomorrow night's adjustment (only have 4 more)... i probably overdid things two weeks ago and need to accept that it won't heal as quickly as it used too... i felt fine during my jog yesterday so let's hope it feels okay during weight-lifting too...

i'm SO not looking forward to weigh-in tomorrow but will keep plugging-away... i have so much going on that it's hard to focus sometimes and have to admit it was eaiser when eric was away (less temptation)... :(

happy tuesday...

i did my part to stimulate the economy

i had to peak on the scale this morning and as expected, it's below yesterday's weigh-in as well as last week's - so there's hope after all... i WILL be going out of town though, which is always hard since my sister always has such tasty-treats in the house... it's like, "wow, i haven't had corn chips in a while" or "pop-tarts taste best straight from the toaster" kind of thing, but i will do my best since that's all i can do...

after my chiro appt last night (i've decided NOT to do the functional training), i met my mom at kohl's to do some shopping since we both had 30% coupons... i spent over a $100 but got some great deals like heavy-weight flannel sheets, space-saving hangers (since eric's closets are t-i-n-y), and some new workout capris... there was some other stuff that found it's way into my cart, but i saved over $50 + most of the stuff was already on sale... that's my kind of shopping! and the best part - mom gave me some leftover homemade potato & sausage soup that i'll be having for lunch today... go mom! :)

for those of you that watch LOST - man, that show just keeps throwing stuff at you, every, single week... love it! :)

since the weather was SO great yesterday - i went for a walk/jog down by GW and then back up constitution ave... people were out, doing their thing, like it was summer! believe me, i know it won't last but it was nice being outside without a jacket for a change... :)

happy thursday...

gotta take the bad with the good

i'm not surprised that the scale was up this morning (.4 pounds) but i was expecting it since (1) i only exercised twice last week and (2) i used more than a week's worth of flex points on sunday... such is life - no reason to freak-out or run for the hills, and so starts another week with a clean slate... amen to that! :-)

i have my first functional training session tonight - not sure what to expect or how it's even going to fit into my schedule... i would prefer mornings but there's just not enough time so i'm limited to evenings and even that will be touch & go because of work... i used to be able to leave at 5:00 most days but now it's busy and my roll has changed - staying later is just part of the game... we'll see how it goes - i'm not bound to any contract so if i decide it's not for me, then i can just stick to my adjustments... :-)

in other news - i made a spreadsheet of all the things i'd like to do before moving into eric's house... stuff like organize closets, basement, paint - you know, the usual stuff that girls need to do before they can feel settled and "at home"... i also asked him to figure out what my part of the monthly expenses will be - it HAS to be less than what i'm paying now so i'm excited about being able to save more $$ each month... i started having a brief freak-out moment last night, thinking about all the stuff i have to pack and how little time i really have (7+ weeks)... once we get things organized better at his place, i can start bringing over boxes of non-essentials but still the thought is daunting... guess i need to get boxes and start packing! ugh!

i've given up on watching 24 - i didn't watch the episode from two weeks ago and usually when that happens, it means my interest has disappeared... something about the bad'tony really being good, and that female FBI agent just irks me for some reason... maybe i'll come around and catch-up online but for now - i'm saying adios to jack... sorry guys... :-(

happy hump day...

in the groove

i forgot what it was like to worry about weekly weigh-ins but being back on WW has really made me pay attention to what i am eating... after staying at eric's for the extended weekend - i was anxious esp. since we had that pizza on sunday and then italian leftovers on monday... either way, i prayed for the scale to stay the same this morning but was blessed with a 1 pound loss instead... i know there will be many weeks where that won't be the case so i'm enjoying it while i can... :)

work is picking-up against hence why i haven't been able to read/comment on your blogs as of late... we are in the process of launching a new website and there's much work to be done - my boss is the project manager and though she's done much of the painstaking work herself, there is plenty for others to do in the next few weeks... ontop of that - i have some big projects coming up so i'm trying to not get stressed-out ahead of time and make sure i take time for ME everyday... i had a good cardio workout today and need to make more of an effort to go after work if there's no time during the day... it's so easy to say, "screw it, i'm going home" but if all i'm doing is eating dinner watching tv - a workout will be much better for me in the long run... :)

i taped last night's LOST so for those of you that watch it - how was it? i'm also taping CSI - am just too tired to watch anything... i barely have the energy to type this so as soon as i post - i'm hopping into bed, watching some tv to wind-down, and then going to sleep... i have another early day tomorrow too (chiro appt) so 6am will be here before you know it - at least it's friday... :)

happy thursday...

pizza on a stick

last night was my first pilates class in over a year and a half... i had been taking it regularly until i had foot surgery back in january '07 and then i decided to train for a 5K... after that, the class time was moved to 6:00 so i couldn't make it and that made me sad because i really enjoyed the instructor... anyway, i found out that they had a 5-week course this summer and i signed-up since i could make te 6:30 classes - so glad i did! i forgot how wonderful it was to stretch and work on your core muscles - i'm also hoping it relieves some back pain i'd be having (as a result of not doing pilates anymore?)... for those of you that have never tried pilates - i highly recommend it... :o)

here's my food-find for the week:

pringles baked wheat stix - view website
the gym in my building had samples of these last week so i grabbed one (pizza flavor, of course) and was pleasantly surprised... they were not only crunchy but very flavorful and just the right serving size, so i used the coupon and bought a box when i went to the grocery store... they have 4 flavors: vanilla, crunchy wheat, pizza, and honey butter, and for only 90 calories - i think this makes a great snack! :o)

has anyone caught the new season of how to look good naked (tuesdays at 10pm on lifetime)... i missed the premier last week but watched it last night - i was surprised to see so many things revamped (plus it's now an hour instead of 30 mins)... carson is still following the premise that women need to view their bodies in a different way and really think, for the most part, the show has a positive message... on last night's episode - he took the woman and showed her 3 life-size photos of women's bodies and asked her to say what she liked about each one... when he asked which one she liked the most, he showed her what that body looked like w/her head... then he revealed that she had picked her OWN body (they had added a tattoo and different bra/undies)... i thought that was a nice twist to the show - she was shocked and he was just trying to make the point that it IS possible to like your body, flaws and all... and that you always look better in reality, then you do in your head... :o)

and for all you harry potter fans - check out the new trailer here! :o)

time to catch-up with everyone and then get back to work - i'm working on this year's annual report and have comps due next week... fun fun...

happy hump day...
